Clean Your Clutter!

Decluttering is a challenge sellers face when putting their home on the market.

Tidy homes allow buyers to imagine themselves living in the house. Removing personal effects allows buyers to imagine what their own items would look like in the house.

“It is preoccupation with possession, more than anything else, that prevents people from living freely and nobly” – Bertrand Russell

Marie Kondo is the inventor of the well-known Konmari method. She gives some great tips for sorting through years of accumulated possessions.

“This system encourages tidying by category – not by location – starting with clothes, then moving on to books, papers and miscellaneous items. Finally, sentimental items. She recommends that one keep only things that speak to the heart and discard items that no longer spark joy. Let them go.”

Sort through your belongings and select only those that mean most to you. This way, you increase space for bringing more meaningful items into your new home.  You will also have a much easier time packing what’s left.
